Being a guy I have to say if he doesn't show up then that's cold. Sure he has low self esteem, but if he likes you then you have nothing to worry about. He would not have been so nervous if you had not told him, but I think it's a nice thought that you gave him a heads up. Now hes probably worrying about giving a good impression. It's for the best to get it out of the way in the beginning of the relationship though because if he ever sees your mom again(which most likely he will) it won't be as awkward.....haha. Just don't worry about it.
